What’s new
Recent improvements and fixes to Sandcastle Admin Search.
Faster audit filters and bulk edits
- The Missing images, Multi-variant, On sale and metafield filters now use the same fast method as price and SKU sorting, so they are several times quicker on large stores.
- These filters now cover your whole catalogue on stores with more than 5,000 products: the first results appear straight away and the page updates itself with the complete list a few seconds later.
- Bulk edits are several times faster. Changes are now sent to Shopify in groups instead of one product at a time, and a large edit shows how many products are done as it goes.
- The duplicate finder and CSV export now pause and retry if Shopify asks the app to slow down, instead of stopping with an error.
- The first page you open after a break loads up to a second sooner.
- Results now keep up with changes made outside the app. When products change in Shopify admin, through an import or in another app, saved results are rebuilt within about two minutes, and until then the page says that products have changed. Products that no longer match a filter drop out of the list straight away.
Much faster sorting on large catalogues
- Sorting by price, SKU, barcode, compare-at price and the other columns Shopify can’t sort itself is now up to five times faster on large stores. 5,000 products now sort in about two seconds, down from over ten.
- Stores with more than 5,000 products now get complete results. The first 5,000 appear straight away, and the page updates itself with your full catalogue a few seconds later.
- Switching between these sorts, or flipping a sort between ascending and descending, is now instant for 15 minutes after the first one.
- While a large sort or filter is running you now see what the app is doing and how long it has taken, instead of a blank or unchanged page. This includes opening the app straight onto a saved sort.
More accurate search
- Search now treats what you type as plain text. Symbols no longer change the meaning of a search: a product title containing “&” used to return nothing, and a word starting with a hyphen was silently excluded, hiding matches. Hyphens inside part numbers still work as before.
More reliable when Shopify has a hiccup
- If Shopify briefly fails to answer, the app now retries on its own instead of showing an error page.
See how fresh your results are
- After a sort or filter that checks every product, the results now show the time they were taken, with a Refresh link for when you have changed products elsewhere since.
Faster, complete “No SKU” filter
- The “No SKU” filter now loads as quickly as a normal search and covers your whole catalogue, with no 5,000 product limit.
- Products you have just given a SKU drop out of the list straight away, rather than lingering until Shopify’s search catches up.
Faster paging and fewer errors on big stores
- After a sort or filter that checks every product, moving to the next page is now instant instead of repeating the whole check.
- If Shopify limits how fast the app can read your catalogue, you now get the results found so far with a note, instead of an error page.
Better filters
- Vendor, product type, tag and collection filters now take several values at once, with “is” / “is not” and match-any or match-all options.
- New “On sale” filter for products with a compare-at price.
- Filter lists can now search every vendor, type and tag in your store, not just the first 250, and tags are ordered by how often you use them.
- The product table appears sooner when you open the app.
First release
- Multi-field product search, audit filters (missing images, no SKU, metafield values and more), sorting by columns Shopify doesn’t support, saved views, bulk edit, CSV export of filtered results, and a duplicate finder.
